Golden land--Sarawak, chapter 24 , Friends from all over the world

Golden Land -- Sarawak, chapter 24 , Friends from all over the world
( Friends from 4 seas)

A great tradition I learn from my late mum is to pass the good will and help friendly people.
In sarawak, it is the culture or the style of living--helping friends.

King, Rajah James Brooke met his great friend Sir Raffles in Sngapore during his trip to Sarawak via singapore. He was entrusted with a mission, that was to bring an important document to the Sultan( king) of Brunei. His adventure eventually created a kingdom in the year 1839, sarawak and he was the only one
in history that a wounded private soldier became King.

Sean, the pioneer of    007 James Bond movie, appeared in a film,' The man Who would be King' is based on the fact of King James Brooke.

Sarawak gained and continue to gains friends from all over the world.
It started from simple facts that the people living here are from all over the world. My late mum told me stories of my grand pa traveling with only ten dollars from china and
lived at River front number 33 Gambier Street when he arrived Kuching. The owner of that shop
was a stanger in fact then they became great friends. It was just a basic trust of fellow human being that my grand pa
survived and prospered in this promise land--Sarawak.

I remember there were many occasion of strangers( to me) staying at our 8 rooms house
around 1965. that was war time when Indonesia helped the 'Communist of Sarawak' and there were
many gun fighting in sarawak.

Common people such as farmers escaped the homes of country side and stayed
at our house for safe shelter. Our house is quite near the police station but not that close as to attract
attack from the 'Communist fighters'.

I talked to strangers since my childhood. I am gifted to pick up naturally good, kind hearted people.
My mum said to a distance relative ( to me his 8 family memebers was strangers to me in 1966)
that they could pass on the good deed to other innocent people.

That is why Admirer Cheng Ho of 1424 gave presents, made friends and did not conquered any
countires in the whole world with his 28,000 navy and the largest fleet of more than 200 ships in his voyage
all over the world from till 1458.

National Geographic showed the wonderful care of Elephant towards orphan baby elephant
and care towards other elephant. That is why very old elephant could find a nice place and died
peacefully with many years of happy community life.

Te basic element is care, love and basic respect for nature, that is the picture of Sarawak--the golden land.
