Golden Land, Sarawak, Chapter 27, Treasure

Borneo is a very special island and Sarawak is oneof the gem of Borneo island.

Sarawak fortunate to have the largest caves in the world, the MULU  caves. 27 million years ago that part of sarawak was under the sea. Swift sea water current ran through the place and eventually tunneled the caves. It is just miracle.

It is simple to use on line internet and enjoy the view of MULU caves.

In Sarawak, the long history of civilization dated back to many years ago, which include the influence of Ancient china, India with Hindus ornaments found and there are numerous proven archaelogical sites that presented the great era of ancient empire. then come the rule from Brunei . Admiral Chen Ho of Ming Dynasty of China travelled to Brunei with 28,000 navy and 100+ shipd , including the giant flag ship that carried 3000 people including navy, doctors( there were 300 medical doctors serving the fleet, the doctors task include not only curing crews sickness, and their assignment include preventive medicine, promote health and well being. To doscover new plants, food source including the introduction of Bird's next which is high in Amino Acid protein, and the bird nest food was discovered when the fleet encountered a serious tropical storm at TongKing Gulf near Vietnam and the docotrs and seamen went to the caves around present time Haloong Bay and discovered Bird's nest.)

Sarawak is full of wonders.

A friend came across a handsome young couples looking for modern digital Camera( Sarawak is one of  the cheapest camera market in the world...........don't ask me why ). The 40 yesars old rich gentleman and his beautiful young wife decided to buy the modern Sony Alfa series and the wife commented,

'Honey, this is great, look this cmaera is so light as compare to the old junk left behind by your late father.'

The gentleman is the youngest of the 10 children and his late father was born in the year1918. that was the time of prosperous and fortune and Sarawak was very modern in that period as the rich people use the most modern gears.

Leica Camera from Germany was common among the elites. So is Hasselblad from USA, shich mathc with the car number one car plate , which is a United Kingdom proud prestigeous car Rollsroyle, Kuching car No. 2 is a Mercedes Benze made in Germany. the lady refered to the old junk, which was a Leica.

"I have thrown away the old junk tot he dustbin 2 weeks ago. It is hopeless to get film nows aday. Even Kodak declared financial problem and this digital camera is really good"
The husband agreed with his wife.
My friend S M Bong was shocked to know the outcome of that vintage Leica Camera.and he asked what happen to that camera.
bong promptly interrupted by asking how many Cameras he had disposed.

" I cleared the whole cupboard whxih is made of glass and all the silicagel which my late father used to dry in woke and meant to keep the cameras in good condition, and the cameras were all functioning well even before I throew them away."

My friend Bong could not resist the curiousity and asked how many he disposed.

" Eight . "

bong told him that Leica vintage Camera cost a lot and he could have sold the camera and get a few Sony Alfa 77,Cannon Mark 2 and even new Leica camera with digital function.

'You likes to throw things, see, see, now Sayang lah.' His wife looked at him sternly.
The gentleman keep quiet and he seemed to be of a good nature husband and then they paid for the camera, after that they went away with their nrand new 800,000 BMW SUV.

My friend Bong repeated that story to me several times and I am sure he like to tell good friends about the treasures of Sarawak, the Golden land

" I have trhrown all the cameras away and the film case." the man added. then

Golden Land, Sarawak, Chapter 26 . People of Sarawak living in Sarawak

I went to Cook Island one month ago and talked to the secretary of the Prim minister's office.
' We have twelve thousand people staying in Cook islands today , I means they stays here physically.'
I smiled and asked her what is the government figure of the total population.

'One hundred and twenty thousand strong' and she presented with a very broad smile and nodded her head few times gently

" I see, that means only 10 % of Cook island citizen staying at home right now and the rest staying oversea. It is amusing. Yet the twelve thousand people can handle millions of tourists every year within Cook Islands."

'That is right.' She laughed with gesture of her both arms opening up infront of herat chest level and smoothly extending 10 centimetres outwards.

" My people, Sarawakinan, in Sarawak, Borneo, Malaysia stays in Sarawak mainly, but there is an vivid observation of more people staying all over the world incluidning, Sweden, Scotland, New Zealnd, Australia, singapore, USA, Dubai working in the oil industries, Canada as Dostors, investors."

I am amused by the comparison of the two sisters like region of southern hemisphere of our earthly world.

" We all live in one world, one Cosmos, same Galaxy, haha" I joked with her. She returned a lovely smile as she turned and looked at me right through my eyes. Then she sadi she had to go and join her boy friend who is an engineer working at the new sea wharf of Roratonga, the CApital of Cook Island.

Sarawak, a place of love and peace is full of loving people staying in harmony, just like Sweden, New Zealand and all peace loving people of our world.

Golden Land --Sarawak, chapter 25 continues

'  Sarawak was a happy independent country with people living in peace and loving each other without prejudice of races, religion and many other varieties. I speak 8 languages' Mr. Bong is happy to show off

'Slaves was a daily practice as the Brunei empire during the 1830 caught beautiful girls and sold separately in pretty villa or castles on top of the hill and the dirty boy slaves and different cages of strong fit men slaves were encaged and sold at the wharf in front of present Hilton hotel.' Bong brought out factual events during the 1830 when sarawak was part of Brunei. during that period, people travelled by sailing shipfrom Kuching to Singapore, London, New York, Shanghai, Sydney. It was 30 to  80 days voyages.

' Then James Brooke came and he became King of Sarawak.' bong showed his happy smile again.
' James Brooke fought against pirates and made this Borneo, sarawak area a much safer place to live and make money $$$.'

'  Some people sat that time felt unhappy and they did not want to stay as happy slaves so they fought against Rajah, King James Brooke.'

Do you refering to the Gold Miners lead by Mr. Liew Shang Pang ? That was 1857 and they killed few people from England and killed a handful of guards or soldiers. They were beaten by thousands of soldiers recruited by the Rajah, King James Brooke and the wlargest city, Bau- Siniawan, was wiped out in sarawak. We assumed that the Iban soldiers had taken all the gold and all precious items and killed all living things around that area.

' that is the reason why Buso town was names till today as it indicate the place was full of rotten death human, and the largest town along the Sarawak Indonesia border now is likely named after the whole place was smelly and the local language Bau means pungent smell of probable death Miners, spouse, children and pets.'

"That was not a period with slave trading !!" I suggested

'Happy slaves are peole working hard and let the authority to decide their outcome or destiny.' Bong indicate that ther is a high risk that we are happy slaves and yet few know or understand that.

'the power distance index showed that our area is fulll of unfair power.'

" I know Sweden is number one in fairness."

'they are rich too. they are not only rich in monetary term, they are rich in creativities, ability to imagine, ability to love and creat love.' that sound interesting.
Bhutan area is reafered to be one of the happiest area"

'To set one's mind to be happy do not corelate to the scientific facts of power sharing, democracy, welath and human right protection.'

I nodded my head and I admired Bong's courage. He is the man who dare to dream, think, and voice it out.

I will learn from him and I will join him to be the freedom, human right fighter of this world ( small and the world in larger context). One day this will be a land where people now studying all over the world would reture, Many people who migrated to other countries from sarawak will returen to this golden Land --sarawak, and a new paradise will be establishes.

Golden land- Sarawak, chapter 25 continued

Qing Ming Shang He Tu took 10 years to complete and is the longest painting in the world. It represented the highest achievement in landscape art in China.  )

(   Chinese painting of Along the River During the Qingming Festival, Qingming ... attributed to the Song Dynasty artist Zhang Zeduan (張擇端, 1085–1145).

'  People are happy to be aliove after the cold winter. They behave like happy slaves '

"Youb always like to say Happy slaves, can you elaborate please ..."
Bong smiled, ' All people are slaves of  money $$$ '
I nodded as a I agreed with his idea in the broad sense.
People do crave for money $$$ or its derivatives such as milk during baby, infant time, toys, money, food, protection during childhood, monetary, computers, electronic games, TV programmes, freindsship in most context,
budding opposite sex's appeal, then work, carrier, money again ofcourse, then dating, mate, then money again, then housing, cars, craving for more money and find ways to upgrade, study, improvement in various ways and then look for more money. bong is right in most of the aspect in term of all peoplea re happy 'slaves' of money.

'A woman who craves for lots of money will finally creates a grave for herself." Bong is very proud t present his finding.

""no no  nooo, you sound discrimination and it also apply to men." I agreed with him partially.
'  If a woman only look for money and talking about money, buying new house, large car like the fancy SUV, or vehivle is not  for practical purpose and mainly for show off to other rich people, what do you thin of this woman.'

" You have to say ...this woman or man" I interrupted. Mr. Bong is presenting a rather hot topic and he just raised up his voice.

' 4,000 cc SUV petrol consumption is like cow drinking water, girls like driving around the cities killed more people than SARS in Sarawak.' I know that Bong is getting a bit aggitated.
'The only son of Mr. Chin killed by the daughter of F S L boss when she drove 4,000 cc SUV after she passed the driving licence test with a manual instructor's car that same day, and the powerful SUV crashed
towards left and sandwiched the dead boy to the iron rail at the slope of Chung Hua Middle School No. 1.
That was showing off and proved fatal."

We were silence for a while and I said " Mr. so and so driving a Lexus at Batu Lintang Road at high speed  thus ended up destroying a lamp pole and 'chopped' down a tree over the other side of the road. a girl was killed during that second collision."

We were talking about Qing Ming Festival which signify the Spring, respect to ancestors and hope for good future. the bong's idea about Happy slaves.

The Golden Land ----Sarawak , chapter 25 , Qing -Ming festival

' Qing Ming festival fall on 4th of April 2012 , this year.' Mr. Siew Ming Bong said with pride. He always like to show off that he is full of knowledge and wisdom. though Albert Eistein said Knowledge is not important, it is the curiousity that is more important.

I guess Albert Eistein is refering to creativity, initiative, and the urge to find out more important 'sceince and art'. Living is an art.

' The previous year Qing Ming was on the 5th of April and next year Qing Ming is on the 5th of April again.' Bong said with a special satisfactory smile with head tilted to a side.
' that is beacuse there is an extra lunar month in April this year in the Chinese Calendar.'

" No No  Nooo, " I promptly stopped him
"It5 is the Qing - Ming festival day is calculated to be the day 105 days after the winter Solstice.Do you remember that there is an extra day in February this year ? That is why the Qing-Ming festival fall one day earlier thatn last year, 2011 nand next year 2013."
I added that Chinese Calendar is a Solar and Lunar combined Calendar which was claculated by ancient scientists( one of them was my ancestor Chong Hen, Zhang Hen as the new China pronounciation changed)

" The Calendar used by all Chinese and many people in this world is meant for natural peaceful harmony living with the Cosmos". I added," For exmaple, after Qing -Ming, the major farming would be instituted and that is why the crops of china is improving every year. The same thing happen to Sarawak where people start planting after the cold winter."

' Qing-Ming is colourful' Bong could not help quickly say his share of the Kopitiam style of gathering dialogue.( Kopitium means Cafe)

'girls put on beautiful , colourful dresses. Best umbrella would be on show as that is the time to attract handsome men's attention. Do you know that Qing - Ming is link to many poets and famous poems, and of course the famous wines. the famous Qing- Ming Shang He picture is a million dollars art.'

The Golden Land ---- Sarawak Cahpter 25 , Qing Ming

The Qingming Festival (simplified Chinese: 清明节; traditional Chinese: 清明節; pinyin: Qīngmíng Jié; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Chheng-bêng-cheh or Chhiⁿ-miâ-choeh.

Confucious followers practice gentle and the art of loving nature-including all living things and 'human being' ( note; most people are human being in human form).

During Qing-Ming Festival, it is the season of high resolution colours of flowers, girls and boys' colourful clSpring season.

the tradition is to respect ancestors, not only the idea of remember the death, it is welcoming the future idea of living, respecting the eldesrs, good relatives and friends and hope the bad ones become better or good for ever.

Golden land--Sarawak, chapter 24 , Friends from all over the world

Golden Land -- Sarawak, chapter 24 , Friends from all over the world
( Friends from 4 seas)

A great tradition I learn from my late mum is to pass the good will and help friendly people.
In sarawak, it is the culture or the style of living--helping friends.

King, Rajah James Brooke met his great friend Sir Raffles in Sngapore during his trip to Sarawak via singapore. He was entrusted with a mission, that was to bring an important document to the Sultan( king) of Brunei. His adventure eventually created a kingdom in the year 1839, sarawak and he was the only one
in history that a wounded private soldier became King.

Sean, the pioneer of    007 James Bond movie, appeared in a film,' The man Who would be King' is based on the fact of King James Brooke.

Sarawak gained and continue to gains friends from all over the world.
It started from simple facts that the people living here are from all over the world. My late mum told me stories of my grand pa traveling with only ten dollars from china and
lived at River front number 33 Gambier Street when he arrived Kuching. The owner of that shop
was a stanger in fact then they became great friends. It was just a basic trust of fellow human being that my grand pa
survived and prospered in this promise land--Sarawak.

I remember there were many occasion of strangers( to me) staying at our 8 rooms house
around 1965. that was war time when Indonesia helped the 'Communist of Sarawak' and there were
many gun fighting in sarawak.

Common people such as farmers escaped the homes of country side and stayed
at our house for safe shelter. Our house is quite near the police station but not that close as to attract
attack from the 'Communist fighters'.

I talked to strangers since my childhood. I am gifted to pick up naturally good, kind hearted people.
My mum said to a distance relative ( to me his 8 family memebers was strangers to me in 1966)
that they could pass on the good deed to other innocent people.

That is why Admirer Cheng Ho of 1424 gave presents, made friends and did not conquered any
countires in the whole world with his 28,000 navy and the largest fleet of more than 200 ships in his voyage
all over the world from till 1458.

National Geographic showed the wonderful care of Elephant towards orphan baby elephant
and care towards other elephant. That is why very old elephant could find a nice place and died
peacefully with many years of happy community life.

Te basic element is care, love and basic respect for nature, that is the picture of Sarawak--the golden land.
